“Farmer’s House in Future”

The planning was started with thoughts of “making a half of farm housing area, managing the rest of field in future”.
The site, Higashi-Yamazaki-cho in Takamatsu, has Takamatsu-Motorway on Takamatsu-Higashi Bypass.
There must’ve been huge 7ifferences beyond the imagination in the area where probably used to be surrounded by fields.
Taking the site condition facing heavily-trafficked 50m-wide bypass into consideration,
tried to make the house take over the relaxing atmosphere that the site used to have.
The shape of architecture is simple.
We put some ideas to make appearance of the house is stable against heavily-trafficked frontal road,
for instance setting a broad-minded hipped roof on a rectangular plan, a deep, low eaves to obstruct the view looking down the site where is lower than the street level.
On a plan, avoided designing space with corridor to make the flow efficient,
so rooms are directly connected.
Piled design with imagining that the house is going to be a new and beloved farmer’s house in between the scenery of consecutive huge bridge pier and the scenery of field fled from land development.
To reject the huge structure or to connect the site and huge volume with plants even if it takes time…
We chose the latter after worrying about that.
It was also the choice with the consideration that the latter may be able to give a breadth of mind for not only people inside of the house but also people driving on bypass.
